Three stripes for strength and unity (poem)

15 Jul

Tree blossum single

For France:
(Written in response to the bombings in France)

Three stripes for strength and unity

Three stripes for strength and unity,
The blue, the white, and the red,
For freedom and fraternity,
With equality, all proudly said.

These words cannot be deleted,
They stand for one, and for all,
Their nation cannot be defeated,
Their own courage will never fall.

Against anger’s hate, they can win,
With peace, their guide and their hope,
Their love of freedom, deep within,
And with unity they will cope.

Spiritual reflection – Forgiveness and quiet inner reflection.
Love and Joy  – The love in our hearts and the joy of living.
Christian Poetry – The Gospels and their stories.
The Natural World – Nature and its seasons, of rivers and raindrops.
Time alone with God – Reflections with God, regardless of what you believe.
Animals and Pets – The blackbird greeting the dawn, the cat sleeping on the bed.
Remembrance and Grief – Of those we have lost. (Some have been read at funerals)
Sadness and despair – Those sad moments that we sometimes have to face
