Through Heaven’s Gate

For a friend who died recently

Through Heaven’s gate

Standing there quietly beside you as your eyes now close in sleep,
Reflective is the Lord to whom you commend your soul to keep.
He waits until you are ready before stretching out his hand,
To lead your soul out from this life and into his Fathers land.
The land of calm and tranquillity, where blessedness is found,
Of harmony and forgiveness, and where love is all around.
Through the gate into His kingdom is the final step you take,
Where in the peace and beauty of heaven, does your soul awake

A Lucky Life

We are lucky People

A lucky life

There’s no drought outside my door. No flood spread across my floor.
There is plenty of food here that I can eat.
There’s no guns firing at me, no battles that I can see
Everyone’s moving safely along my street

There’s no tanks that will collide, I don’t need to run and hide
The enemy is nowhere near to my door
I can sleep in peace tonight, I don’t need to go and fight.
I do not fear what tomorrow has in store

I will wake in restful dawn, blackbirds singing on the lawn
A land of calmness with no war to be seen
There is clear water to drink, a peaceful place I can think
Oh yes, I know how lucky my life has been

The Inner Truth (poem)

Butterfly 2 small
The Truth within us:

The Inner Truth

If truth becomes an illusion, if anger takes over the heart,
If life gets lost in confusion, if hatred tears friendships apart.
If reasoning becomes a task, and understanding fades from sight,
If we are unable to ask, for help in the darkest of night.

Then what of our life in this day, what will now become of our fate,
When mankind is losing it way, and peace is now closing its gate.
When happiness turns to sorrow, when our laughter turns into tears,
When all our dreams for tomorrow, are lost in amongst all our fears.

We must seek out our inner truth, that our heart is only for love,
To let love protect like a roof, stopping the hate fall from above.
That we don’t have to walk that path, of anger against the unknown
We can step out of hates cold draught, and let love rule out heart alone.

That peace can be found from within, and shared by stretching our hand,
And hope will help us to begin, to help us all to understand.
That faith in mankind gives us strength, and within ourselves it is found
That kindness can stretch any length, and our love stands on solid ground.

I Turn To You (poem)

Rainbow 1
When someone is there for you:

I Turn to You

Whenever there is a storm cloud, high in the sky.
Whenever the horizon fades, leaving my sight.
Whenever my truths have all turned into a lie.
And my brightest day, has become my darkest night.

I know that if I but just step back in my fear.
That if I but shut my eyes to all that I now see.
That you will begin to step forward, and draw near.
And that by your presence there, you will rescue me.

For I turn to you now, in thunder and in rain.
And I turn to you whenever my life feels low.
For I know that with you, my strength I will regain.
And you will take those clouds, and make me a rainbow.

You will take my hand and then lead me through the rain.
Beyond the rainbows arch, to where the sun does shine.
I turn to you and by your side I will remain.
And throughout this world, you will be forever mine.

The Love Within Us (poem)

rose-red-1

Letting love in:

The Love within Us

It is not in your past, nor in your future does it lay.
For it was never meant to last, nor survive another day.
A guide it will never be, nor in true love will it be found,
So set the inner anger free, and then walk on joyful ground.

Walk where the light does shine, for surrounding you it always will.
Happiness is yours and mine, and with love we all have our fill.
We may forget to remember, that our love is ours to give,
But from January to December, within us true love does live.

The Story of Flowers (poem)

FF 50 Phoenix

The beauty of flowers:
(This poem was written for the St Lawrence Flower Festival. The photo is a picture of one of the arrangements)

The Story of Flowers

The flowers displayed in all their glory.
Every colour of the rainbow seen.
Each arrangement tells its own story.
Every leaf, a different shade of green

Their petals spread across the rainbow.
Their buds, the promise of what’s to be.
The wonders of Gods world on show.
The beauty of Gods world to see.

Three stripes for strength and unity (poem)

Tree blossum single

For France:
(Written in response to the bombings in France)

Three stripes for strength and unity

Three stripes for strength and unity,
The blue, the white, and the red,
For freedom and fraternity,
With equality, all proudly said.

These words cannot be deleted,
They stand for one, and for all,
Their nation cannot be defeated,
Their own courage will never fall.

Against anger’s hate, they can win,
With peace, their guide and their hope,
Their love of freedom, deep within,
And with unity they will cope.
