It’s raining outside

A rainy day can be refreshing

It’s raining outside

Let’s abandon the world and head inside,
And find a safe place where we can reside.
Leave the rain outside to refresh the lands,
And place a fresh drink into our hands.

Let’s shut out this day and leave the strife behind,
Check out the bookshelf to see what we can find.
Then find a nice comfy place to call our own,
And cherish the peace of just being alone.

Let’s finish this day relaxed and at ease,
Release the days stress to go where it please.
Toss away all our worries out of the door,
And drop the weight from our back, onto the floor.

Let’s clear out the thoughts of anxiety,
Tuck away the demands of society.
Let go of the tension that’s holding us tight,
And leave the rain to fall throughout the night.

Turning a corner in life

Turning a corner can bring a new beginning

Turning a corner in life

Turning a corner brings a new scene into view,
The one from your old life now fading from sight.
Your life is not broken, just turning anew,
Changing direction to bring freshness and light.

It was already planned, this turn was meant to be,
For footpaths are never meant to run straight.
Like a walk in the countryside, fresh and free,
Along hedgerows and through an old wooden gate.

Stepping stones are there to carry you over the stream,
Into a meadow full of buttercups and clover,
Turning a corner can bring to your life a new dream,
Where the rigidness of the old life is now over.

Seed of remembrance

In memory of a friend who died recently

Seed of Remembrance

God has now called you for his own,
As to his kingdom you now ascend.
But, within our hearts, a seed has been sown,
Left there to help, to heal, and to mend.

For your love still grows where you have been,
Every seed that you planted grows strong.
For although, in Heaven, you are now seen,
It’s within our hearts, you will always belong.

Life reborn (poem)

Reborn into a new life

Life reborn

Standing in a new place, a new horizon seen,
Pausing from life’s long race, letting go of what has been.
The tunnel is behind, the stars now shine above,
Clarity in the mind, the soul now full of love.

A stillness lies around, a calmness in the air,
Standing on solid ground, new hope is living there.
A freshness of clear skies, a newness of life reborn,
Off your soul now flies, rising with this new dawn.

Your shadows fading fast, as the sun touches you,
The darkness of the past, now fading from your view.
The future is unknown, but the past cannot bind,
For a new life has grown, and there for you to find.

The Joy of Forgiving

Forgiveness brings the joy of new hope

The joy of forgiving

The joy of forgiving, the soul can start living,
As the spirit of love conquers the fear.
The thawing of the heart, forgiveness can now start,
As the dawn of understanding draws near.

The joy of tomorrow, the release of sorrow,
As yesterday’s pain fades into the past.
The emergence of hope, your spirit can now cope,
As forgiveness brings a peace that can last.

The joy of happiness, your sadness can regress,
As the sunlight of new hope conquers all.
The forgiveness within, a new life can begin,
As the strength of love in your heart stands tall.

Through Heaven’s Gate

For a friend who died recently

Through Heaven’s gate

Standing there quietly beside you as your eyes now close in sleep,
Reflective is the Lord to whom you commend your soul to keep.
He waits until you are ready before stretching out his hand,
To lead your soul out from this life and into his Fathers land.
The land of calm and tranquillity, where blessedness is found,
Of harmony and forgiveness, and where love is all around.
Through the gate into His kingdom is the final step you take,
Where in the peace and beauty of heaven, does your soul awake

A Lucky Life

We are lucky People

A lucky life

There’s no drought outside my door. No flood spread across my floor.
There is plenty of food here that I can eat.
There’s no guns firing at me, no battles that I can see
Everyone’s moving safely along my street

There’s no tanks that will collide, I don’t need to run and hide
The enemy is nowhere near to my door
I can sleep in peace tonight, I don’t need to go and fight.
I do not fear what tomorrow has in store

I will wake in restful dawn, blackbirds singing on the lawn
A land of calmness with no war to be seen
There is clear water to drink, a peaceful place I can think
Oh yes, I know how lucky my life has been
